The Bible defines hope as a confident expectation of receiving what God has promised in the future. It's a desire for something good in the future that doesn't imply uncertainty or lack of assurance, unlike the world's definition.. Biblical hope is a reality, not a feeling and it is based the the belief that God always keeps his promises.
Why do we need hope so badly?
As we see the condition of the present world, we have little hope that it will get better. The world today is like it was in the days of Noah.
Matthew 24:37-39
"But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall the coming of the Son of man be".
The earth groans (Romans 8:18-22)
Creation is in a state of bondage, corruption and futility. Creation's position is strongly negative. This passage declares that creation "eagerly awaits" God's future glory.
Groaning is a very strong word. It means an expression of pain that goes beyond mere physical pain. This groaning has to do with the fallen state of humanity and creation, which is in need of full redemption upon Christ's return. Creation's groaning makes sense when we learn of natural disasters, water shortages, tornados, earthquakes and other scary events taking place in the world around us.
The scriptures say:
"Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ: who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all wickedness..."Titus 2:13-14
Proverbs 24:16 : For the righteous fall seven times and rise again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity. The wicked have no peace." Isaiah 48:22
You may fall, but get up! Don't give up! Biblical Hope gets you back up.
Lamentations 3:26 "It is good that a man should both hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord". Be patient! f you believe in God, then you must have faith that He has a purpose in the waiting and then make your heart ready to receive it.
Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Romans 8:23
Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you future and a hope".
"I will never leave you nor forsake you" Hebrews 13:5
Romans 15:13
So, when we feel there is little hope, ask .
James 4:3 "you have not because you ask not". It simply means that, if there is something we want, we need to ask God for it, instead of resorting to ungodly means.
James 4:3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives.
"Ask and you shall receive" Matthew 7:7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in ever situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present you requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Know: Everything God thinks of you is what gives you worth, your identity and HOPE.
Who are you in God's eyes? No matter what you think, here is who you truly are.
You are God's Masterpiece . Ephesians 2:10
God is no amateur potter, but an artisan who has already begun to shape us into a masterpiece. God sees potential in us that we cannot grasp.
For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother's womb. ..I have been fearfully and wonderfully made... and my soul knows it very well" Psalms 139:14
You are a new creature in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17
When the rebirth takes place in a person who is saved by faith in Jesus , the spiritual transformation, changes a person's heart and they are made new.
Don't look at your past life. It's over. In Luke 9:62 "Jesus said "Whoever starts to plow and looks back is not fit for the kingdom of God". The reason is that If someone is plowing a field and looks back, they will naturally turn and not plow in straight rows. Jesus wants the man to look straight ahead and leave his old life behind. The enemy will use our past to keep us from moving on to the good plans that God has for us.
You are a child of God. 1 John 3, Galatians 3:26, Romans 8:16,1 Thessalonians 5:5
God knew you before He formed you in the womb, before you were born He set you apart. Jeremiah 1:5,
"For you created my inmost being, you kit me together in my mother's womb. "
Psalms 139:13-16
You are powerful. 2 Timothy 1:7
"For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.
" Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy..." Luke 10:19
Jesus gave us these words because He was preparing us to realize that once we enter His Kingdom, we have entered into battle with the enemy of mankind's soul.
You have a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
You are strong Joshua 1:9
"Be strong and Courageous. Do not be afraid: do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
You are loved.
You are a warrior: You Stand against the enemy. Ephesians 6:11-17, 19
Only with every piece of the armor of God can a believer adequately stand against the schemes of the Devil.
"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high paces.
Stand firm having the belt of truth around your waist, the breastplate of righteousness, in place and with your feet fitted with readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all he flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
With this in mind, be Alert and keep praying for all the saints.
You are Forgiving is the action or process of forgiving.
Forgiving others is mentioned many times in the Bible. In the Lord's prayer, for example (Matthew 6:12) we read "and forgive us our debts as we have forgiven our debtors".
"As the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive." Colossians 3:12-13
Psychologists generally define forgiveness as a conscious, deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or vengeance toward a person or group who has harmed you, regardless of whether they actually deserve your forgiveness.
You are Forgiven
"IF we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9
"Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Psalms 32:1-3
" For I will be merciful to your unrighteousness and your sins will remember no more"
GRACE
Grace, in the Bible, is defined a God's unmerited favor, or a gift that freely given to people without regard to their successes or failures.
Grace is not a theory, or a dream, or a dead hope. The standard explanation of "unmerited favor" falls far short of describing its redemptive mission. Grace is primarily the power to provide for every need in human life to transform a dissolute, immoral man or woman into the image of Jesus Christ. Grace gives us a new life which is not condemned by God. God looks at the heart whereas, man looks on the outward appearance. Through God's grace we are forgiven, transforming our thinking, resulting in the renewal of our mind and heart. Through grace we live the kind of life that God would like everyone of His children to live.
God's grace is about receiving steadfast, unfailing love when it's undeserved. It's about the forgiveness and restoration of a joy-filled relationship offered free of charge through what Christ did on the cross for us.
God shows us grace when He extends us love, forgiveness, mercy, empathy, understanding and eternal life in spite of our wrongs and shortcomings.
Salvation cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace. So that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. Grace
