What is God like?
The Scriptures describe Him as:
Merciful, gracious, slow to anger, good, patient, loving, true, compassionate, loyal, just, powerful, a provider, the Great Creator, morally pure (Holy), long suffering, all knowing, always present everywhere, infinite, never changes, protector and declares that God is love.
(Exodus 34:7-8, Ephesians L:2, Galatians 1:L, Colossians t:L2-L6, L Thessalonians L:3, Mark 10:L8, l Timothy 4:4, l- Peter 3:9 Psalms 103 :8, psalms 25:8, Genesis 1:L...John 4:8)
"Jesus came to show us what God is like. When Jesus healed the sick, He was showing us what God is like. When Jesus held the children on His lap, He us showing us what God is like. When Jesus fed the hungry, encouraged the despondent, forgave sins, rebuked unrepentant sinners, and worked miracles - He was showing us what God is like. That's why He came. Hear Him saying to the woman whose accusers had dragged her into His presence, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more." See Him feeding the people when they were hungry. Marvel at His patience with men who wanted to be the greatest. Stand back amazed as you see Him washing the feet of the one who would betray Him. See Him praying in the garden, crushed by the weight of a world's guilt. See Him tempted to call legions of angels to bear Him away from a hostile planet. See Him fiercely tempted to come down from the cross and show everybody who He was. But see Him staying there to the very end, till His work was finished....because He remembered you - and me. That's what God is like." - Gary Kent
'Satan is the one who incited the mob into a demonic frenzy and urged them on to crucify the One who came to save them. He was the one who drove men to hang their Creator on a cross. But the One who cares about you and me died there without protest. Jesus was sent to His torturous death without a fair trial. He was innocent but they killed Him anyway. It's God dying to save guilty man. It's God trying to save the ones who put Him here. He was tryin to save the ones who drove the nails". -Gary Kent
After Adam and Eve sinned, they made fig leaf coverings for themselves and when they heard God walk in the Garden of Eden calling for Adam , they hid from God, their creator. God knew they had eaten the apple (sinned) but still went looking for them as He always did. He didn't abandon them. He pursued them with kindness. He pursues us with kindness knowing we sin. In spite of our sins, He still loves us and is willing to forgive us. Genesis 3:9 , Jeremiah 31:3
Do The Son and The Father have the same character traits: Yes!
The Scriptures quote:
" lf ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also, and from henceforth ye know him and have seen him. John 14:7
"...He that hath seen me hath seen the Father.. " John 14:8
. "Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me". John 14:11
"I am the way and the truth and the life...No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6-7
God's Love for Mankind
The Scriptures say:
Jeremiah 31:3 "l have loved thee with an everlasting love: I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
Ephesians 1:4 states "even before He made the world, God loved us..."
Psalms 136:1-9 "His love endures forever."
We cannot shut off, stop or in any way diminish God's flow of love toward us. No matter what we do, we cannot cause God to stop loving us. Nothing can change the way God feels about us. He wants everyone to be saved.
1 Timothy 2:4-6 "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."
This is a declaration about God's heart and desire towards mankind;
"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us that we should be called the sons of God".
"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins"
"For God so loved the world that He sent his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life,,.
"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (Jeremiah 31:3, l John 3:1, L John 4:10, john 3:1,6,17)
"There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus" Romans 8:1
"Whoever believes in Him is not condemned" John 3:18
Jesus allowed himself to be crucified. He could have called ten thousand angels, But He didn't so that humanity could have everlasting life. Matthew 26:53
Is God just?
Yes. He is!
The justice of God is fundamental to His character and provides the fuel for the praises of His people in every age. ( Psalms 25:8). He always does what is right. He cannot lie (Hebrews 6:18). He determines right from wrong. He forgives those who are sorry for their sins.
1 Samuel 16:7 "...For the Lord does not see as man sees: for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. God does not judge us by our outward behavior or our acts like man does, but by the intents and desires of the heart.
Ecclesiastes 3:17: "I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time for every matter and for every work. I said to myself, In due season God will judge everyone both good and evil for all their deeds."
Romans 6:23: God's justice and righteousness require a penalty for sin. BUT, if we confess our sins He is faithful and Just to forgive us. 1 John 1:9
Psalm 89:14: "Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne: steadfast love and faithfulness go before you"
Psalms 11:7 "The Lord is righteous . He loves justice"
Psalms 146:5-8 "The Maker of heaven and earth upholds the cause of the oppressed and ...loves the righteous.
Isaiah 5:16: "The Lord Almighty will be exalted by His justice.
Why is God waiting so long to come back?
He has a pan. Just as soon as we've seen enough of sin. Just as soon as we've understood how deadly it is. Just as soon as we've grown tired enough of this rebel planet, then God will come back. In the meantime, God permits the suffering to continue. When you see the plane crashes and the floods and the fires and the hurricanes and innocent children dying and all the rest of the heartache and chaos in our world, remember that an enemy is responsible. Not God. It's Satan who plots all the despair and destruction and then blames it on God. -Gary Kent
..."The Lord is not willing that any should perish..." 2Peter 3:9
The Bible has countless promised showing God's love and compassion for mankind. Example, Matthew 11:28 : "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
